Impressive fuel numbers from my 2022 Tucson SEL ICE trip

Did a 3 day run across I-10 from Houston to Pensacola and back with my 2022 Tucson SEL. Mix of cruise control at 72 and rural roads around Mobile gave me nearly 38 MPG over 440 mi. With better traffic flow on the return, I saw about 34 MPG at a steadier 75.

That's solid mileage for a trip like that! That engine really shines on mixed routes. Did you notice any difference in MPG with elevation changes or AC usage?

The I-10 route along the Gulf Coast is incredibly flat so there were no real elevation changes to measure an effect on mileage. As for AC, it was a complete necessity in the July heat. It was running on a high setting for virtually the entire trip so those numbers already factor in its constant use.

@standard basil Wow, that’s really impressive MPG for a 2022 Tucson SEL ICE on a long trip with AC running constantly. Looks like the flat Gulf Coast route and steady speeds really helped efficiency. Did you make any particular adjustments to maximize fuel economy, like coasting or keeping RPMs low, or was it mostly just smooth cruising?
